INEOS is an R&D institute which functions in the framework of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Research
INEOS is a worldwide-recognized R&D institute that has
investigated the chemistry and physical chemistry of organoelement and macromolecular compounds for more than 50 years. The major areas of the investigations:
- Division of Organoelement Compounds
- Fundamental studies in the field of organoelement and organometallic chemistry.
- Synthesizing novel compounds and studying their properties; elaborating new synthesis processes; and studying reaction mechanisms.
- Applications of organoelement compounds to organic synthesis and catalysis, including new organometallic catalysts, asymmetric catalysis, and synthesis of biologically active compounds.
- Division of Macromolecular Compounds
- Studying fundamental problems for the synthesis, structure and properties of polymers, including organoelement polymers and materials derived from them.
- Computer design of macromolecules.
- Aromatic and heterocyclic polymers, polyconjugated and network polymers, liquid crystal polymers and polyelectrolytes.
- Nanostructures in polymers.
- Synthesis of nanoparticles in polymer matrix.
- Various applications of polymers for medicine and technology.

- Application of modern physical methods for studying the structure and reactivity of organic, including organoelement and macromolecular compounds.

At present there are more than 400 computers and more than 500 registered users on the INEOS RAS computer network. INEOS supports internet, mail-services, file exchange services, as well as the corporate site. The specified solutions are maintained using a separate server cluster, consisting of four computers governed by OC UNIX united in a segment. Within the framework of special projects, several high-performance calculation clusters were assembled based on non-expensive PC- compatible solutions. These clusters are governed by ОС Linux (including 64-bit versions) using libraries of distributed calculations and are successfully applied to complicated quantum mechanics, molecular modeling and structural chemical calculations.
