The Department of Chemistry is responsible for research and development in different chemistry fields and for preparing chemists in these fields.

The Chemistry Department has a very good relationship with the Biological Department, which has animal breeding and testing facilities.
A wide array of equipment for developing commercial projects is available. For example, the Analytical Chemistry Division has GCs (with FID, NPD, FPD, ECD), GC/MSs (EI,CI), LC/MS(ESI, APCI, APPhI), GC/AED, LCs(UV-vis, electrochemical dtector), ICs, HPTLC, capillary electrophoresis, ICP/MS, RFS, AAS, FTIR, UV-VIS spectrometers and etc.

The Department of Chemistry hold many Russian patents and some intellectual property that would be of potential interest in industry.
The Department of Chemistry has many research laboratories in the divisions mentioned above. Many doctors of sciences, candidates of science (PhDs), and senior research scientists work in these labs. The department also trains graduate and post graduate students.
