PRECLINICAL TRIALS (pharmacological and toxicological studies)

Biological testing laboratory offers state of the art pharmacological and toxicological investigations:

• Biological activity screening
• Research on compound efficacy and mechanism of action
• Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies
• GLP-compliant safety evaluation studies.

The laboratory conducts studies on pharmacological compound efficacy using animal models for various pathological states:

• Cardiovascular pathologies (Hypertension, Brain ischaemia, Arrhythmia)
• Oncology (B-16 melanoma, LLC carcinoma, P-388 leukemia)
• Endocrine disorders (Diabetes, Osteoporosis, Hypophysisectomy)
• Immune pathologies, inflammation (Anaphylactic shock, Septic shock, Arthritis).

Biological testing laboratory performs the following GLP-compliant toxicological studies in rodents:

• General toxicity (Acute toxicity, Sub-acute and chronic toxicity)
• Reproductive toxicity (Fertility, Pre- and postnatal development)
• Carcinogenicity
• Gene toxicity.

The Laboratory is located in Biomedical research facility of Branch of IBCh RAS (17 laboratory rooms, 13 animal rooms). Controlled conditions of animal housing and management. Possibility to use SPF animals.

Biological testing laboratory staff includes more than 40 professionals. Research staff members 16 research scientists (2 D.Sci., 7 Ph.D.), 6 engineers, 16 technicians) are educated in physiology, pharmacology, toxicology, veterinary surgery, biochemistry, and pharmaceutics.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee review all research protocols involving animals.
