BII-ELAN Program
The BioIndustry Initiative - English Language and Nonproliferation Program (BII-ELAN) at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey, California, is designed as an eight-week intensive session for scientists and business leaders in the Newly Independent States (NIS). The program targets the enhancement of the participants' English language skills and exposure to a broader nonproliferation context for the specific work they do in their home countries. The ultimate goal is to facilitate their interaction with officials from other countries at international meetings and to ensure optimum use of English-language documents and materials.
MIIS hosts four visiting fellows during each eight-week session. The program aims to improve the participants’ English-language skills through intensive instruction divided into three modules: Listening, Speaking and Culture; English for Business Purposes; and English for Nonproliferation.
