BII collateralization of loans facilitates partner institutions’ long-term sustainability and "graduation" from USG funding. Activities that may be financed under the Loan Collateralization Program projects are: commercialization of Eurasian scientists’ biotechnological developments, extension of market for successful products, and market launch of innovative new biotechnological products.
BII strategic funding is available in the form of short-term, targeted grants to enable partner institutions to accomplish specific goals towards achieving long-term sustainability and "graduation" from USG funding.
BII funds travel grant applications for scientists and business personnel from partner institutions to attend scientific meetings, trade conferences and other relevant business trips.
The BioIndustry Initiative will no longer accept grant applications for basic research and development projects.
Grant proposals focused on basic R&D may be submitted to the following organizations:
Partner USG programs: Science Centers - International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU); Bio/Chem Redirect Program (BCR): Biotechnology Engagement Program (BTEP), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); and Department of Energy - Initiative for Proliferation Prevention Program (DOE-IPP)
U.S. and International Grant Agencies: National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), Soros Foundation, NATO Science Program, Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation, etc.
